Why do I write?

Writing is therapy for me. I struggle with mental illness and poetry has been one of the few healthy ways I have coped with that. My emotions are sporadic and complex. I struggle to authentically put myself out in the open because I often fail to understand myself and what I am feeling. Writing helps me express and make sense of my confusion. It puts my internal chaos into an external order for me to understand and better cope.

Most of my writing is very dark and sad. I don’t want to let that scare you or to cause you to worry about my well-being. I am happy and healthy right now. These poems were either written during a hard time in my life or were inspired by a difficulty.
